Title: 2350 Folding Shelf
Post by: Bangorbob on July 12, 2020, 08:38:59 am
I listened to the folding shelf next to the sink squeak, rattle and make other noised for 2000 miles.  What have you done to quiet it?

Thanks, Bob

I use THIS STICK-ON PRODUCT SOLD AT DOLLAR TREE FOR $1 (https://www.dollartree.com/tool-bench-felt-protectors/243661), strategically PLACED in the hinges.  It has been many years, still doing the job well.  I use the same stick-on material addressing other rattles in our PC such as the roof-top antenna feet & wings tips, the feet and sides of the microwave oven (remove the oven to get to those places) and inside our TV on the sheet metal shielding (taking the back of the TV off to get to them).

There are so many sources for rattling.  I got pretty good at hunting them down and stopping most irritations in semi-permanent fashion.  There is inherent noise of which there is no solution for, but our PC is quite easy on the ears.

Our rig being a 2007, has the old style microwave oven with the separate stove hood.  Replacing the front-mounting screws with "T" nuts and regular screws made it possible to tighten down the microwave oven so much better.  That helped a lot.  CLICK HERE (http://forum.phoenixusarv.com/index.php/topic,2486.0.html) to get to my write-up with pictures.

I just cut a small piece of foam pipe insulation and wedge it in one of the hinges when I fold the table down. Works fine for a while, then gets lost, cut in half, too compressed etc. and i replace it with another one. Very very inexpensive fix.
