Title: Newer Ford Center Console For 2007-2008
Post by: Ron Dittmer on March 08, 2011, 10:09:39 am
Looking at the new 2009-2011 Ford chassis interiors on PhoenixUSA's website, I really like the improvements Ford made with the center console cup-holder & storage.  My 2007 has the older design with 4 cup holders but no top trays.  The newer design has 2 cup holders and very nice top trays and also has an extra side bin by the passenger.  I'd really want that new console for my 2007, but I first need some questions answered.

1) Are the two center console designs interchangeable?  I think they are.
2) Is the main tan color of the newer Ford design, the same as the older 2007-2008 design?  I think it is.
3) If #1 and #2 are "YES" will PhoenixUSA sell me a cherry finish center console?  I hope so.

I emailed the factory and am waiting for their reply.

For you with a Ford chassis older than a 2007, you have the dark gray console, right?  You can buy dark gray with black top tray areas for around $50 on ebay.  They are new take-offs.
CLICK HERE TO SEE THEM FOR SALE ON EBAY (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/97-09-FORD-ECONOLINE-VAN-CONSOLE-ENGINE-COVER-ESERIES-/220705136100?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item33630d1de4)

Here is my older 2007 design.

Ron, in the very upper left corner of the console there is a small round (holder) of sorts, has a lid and inside a small protrusion. Do you know what this is? That's the best I can do. bill

PS have been working on shelves will take some pictures and post them on my web.

It is an ashtray.

Share those pics once your work is done!

I just got off the phone with Kermit, so here is the scoop for us with any Ford chassis older than a 2009, who would like to consider having the newest center console.

Our old style 4-cup holder design is interchangable with the latest 2-cup & lots of storage design.  Kermit mounted a 2011 onto a dark gray 2006 and said it is a perfect fit.  There are number of unrelated issues outlined here.
1) A newer tan color is likely NOT the same shade as the older tan color of the 2007 and 2008 model years (but it might be a good compliment)
2) The cost of a new tan console is $184 direct from Ford
3) Cost of adding the wood grain is $64 (this is a dipping process done at a supplier of Phoenix)
4) Total cost including shipping would be around $264 (that is a lot for a nicer console)

For you with the 2006 or older dark gray console, you have it much easier and cheaper because you can buy a new console off eBay $50, have it shipped from the eBay seller direct to Phoenix USA, and Kermit will send it out for dipping the woodgrain $64, and then ship it to you $16.

I will see if I can find a tan console in a local junk yard to reduce the $184 purchase price down I hope to around $40 or less.

Ron, in addition to the extra storage on the side, there's a shelf inside the bottom large cubby hole.  I had the console you have on my prior pc, and I like the new one a lot better.  Also, thanks for the info on the accumulator tank.  I bought the tank and fittings today and plan to install it tomorrow. --larry
