Our gov. said we could recreate (verb?) so we headed East. Technically, we are a little further than the 10 mile radius he "suggested".
In Kansas we had a tornado warning. No biggie, it was on the other side of the county.
In Missouri we did o.k. but our neighbor lost his awning to a severe storm.
We decided to continue up the Mississippi to the Mpls. area to check on my elderly aunts.
Bad timing. You may have read a story or two about that....not weather related.
Wisely, staying on the Wisc. side of the river we went to Duluth. After setting up at the Lakehead Boat Basin we saw some folks taking a stroll on I-35. A few sirens later and a cloud of tear gas, they must've decided to go home. And.....a frost warning the next night.
So now we are in Spearfish S.D. with holes in our roof and vents, broken mirrors, missing marker light, dents in the hood and more. Last night a bad storm blew in with large hail.
We'll probably be safe from hurricanes between here and home but.........there is a full moon tonight.
If you happen to see a flock of vultures before a storm be afraid! O.K. I realize they live in the trees in the campground, but it was a Hitchcock moment.

No, that's not a tennis ball, it's a hailstone.

I'm sure you wish this very nicely written post was fiction. I'm impressed you managed to maintain humor, in light of all the traumas.
In my modified words of The Checkered Demon, "stuff" happens. >:(
Makes me glad we're staying home this summer.
Gardening is so much safer... despite the challenges.
Hang in there, and onward thru the fog. :)(:

Well actually, there will be remnants of a hurricane into the Great Lakes around Wednesday. Up to 12” of rain along its path.

But we're headed home to warm (hot), dry (mostly) Colorado. Desert and all those mountains!
