I am giving up on getting these button tank probes to operate properly. I just received Horst Miracle Probes for my black and gray tanks. I found a great video online on how to remove the button probes, and already pulled them out. It uses a box end of a wrench and washer to remove the button probes and they pop right out. So if any of you are wanting to change your probes or just pull them out its a lot easier then pulling or prying on them to try getting them out. So tomorrow will be the day I install the new probes and hopefully the tanks will read correctly for the first time since I have had the PC.

Good info, I'm anxious to hear the results of your upgrade. Can you post the link to the YouTube video that shows the removal process? Thx.

I gave up on the OEM system last year after trying all the tricks, solutions, internet ideas, to no avail. Installed this: https://www.rvupgradestore.com/Garnett-Technologies-Model-709-SeeLeveL-II-p/709-1003.htm
Works great, gives readout in approximately 3-5% intervals, not the quarter tank steps.
Easy to install, uses existing wiring. You do need the back plate since the existing hole is slightly larger than the new panel.

Here is the YouTube link for how to easily remove the tank probes. It worked for me, made it super easy.

Installed tested and checked for leaks, this is the first time the gray and black water tank level indication worked. Time will tell for how long but currently I couldn't be happier.
That Garrnett SeeLevel II monitoring system is very cool! That is a great find, looks like it would be trouble free regardless of inside condition of the tank. If this doesn't work I am going to upgrade to that. Thanks for the heads-up, much better system just a little pricey, but you get what you pay for!

The Horst Probes certainly look like an improvement over the buttons--and I hope they solve Lance's issues. I want to take a minute to add my endorsement to WillLloyd's suggestion of the SeeLevel unit.
Phoenix has been installing the SeeLevel II system as an option for some period of time. I got it installed in my 2552 that they built in late 2018. I have mentioned before in postings how much I like the system, and so far I've had no problems with it. WillLloyd mentioned readout in 3-5% intervals. It actually provides readings more incremental than that. On fresh, gray, and black water tanks I've watched them move in 1% steps as I've filled or emptied them; I haven't actually seen the propane increment move, but I suspect that duplicates the 1% movements. Experienced RV'rs probably were more comfortable with dealing with such things, but being brand new to RV usage, I was a little apprehensive about monitoring how much water or propane I had left, or remaining tank capacity for black/gray water. The SeeLevel system solved that for me, and as I gain experience I've really been comfortable knowing exactly where my levels are. Don't know about the longevity yet----but it can't be worse than the track record for the standard systems, and from everything I could find reliability of the SeeLevel II is excellent.

Well the Horst Probes have worked flawlessly for over a year now. It's been one of the best upgrades I made. If your tank level indicating system isn't working well checkout the Horst Probes.
I can tell you that my tank level system now operates when before I couldn't get my grey or black tanks correct level.
Easy install and won't break the bank...

Our PC will be 14 years old in a few months. Our original tank sensors continue to work flawlessly. I think it is because at the end of our RVing season, I bleach the gray and black tanks followed by a rinse, to remove foul odors. Odors are a concern because our PC is stored in our garage, located under our bedroom.
I can't say my annual maintenance process will work for everyone, but it's worth a try if your tank sensors are not working properly.
I put 1/3 of a gallon of house-hold bleach in each tank, then fill the gray tank until I see it backing up into the shower, and the black tank until near the toilet valve. I also add a little bleach in the closed toilet, sinks, and shower pan filled with water and bleach everything clean. I need to be careful walking around to minimize sloshing. I then wait 2 hours, drain everything on the driveway (yes the water smells fresh and clean), and repeat with fresh water, let sit another 2 hours, and drain again.
When I am done, our PC smells like brand new, our garage has no sewer gas odor, and the now 14 year old tank sensors work great.
