Title: Refrigerator Outside Vents
Post by: Engineerlt on January 13, 2020, 07:22:18 pm
I read an article where a RV owner had water intrusion through this vent during heavy rain storms with wind.  It end up eventually rotting out his floor. I looked at mine and found the factory uses Oriented Strand Board (OSB). I also noticed the factory painted it black, which you could wipe off. I decided to seal mine up and I used Red Guard and their membrane material.  I added 2 small wooden blocks one on each side of the refrigerator cabinet to help keep water from traveling into the coach.  I then coated the wood with the Red Guard and laid in the membrane, the membrane ran up the walls, over the floor and up the 2 small blocks I installed. Put a couple more coats of the Red Guard then painted it black. It is now sealed and easy to clean and kinda like a catch pan. Not my best work but it will do the job. You might want to look at your refrigerator compartment just to ensure all is well.
