Title: Raising Venetian blinds

I feel a litte foolish posting this question as the answer would seem obvious, but I can't figure out how to raise the Venetian blinds on the entry door or the kitchen window.  There is no strings evident for doing that as is typical on such blinds - only the wand for adjusting the tilt of the blinds.  It appears it might be necessary to remove the screws in the string tension at the bottom of the blinds, but that doesn't seem realistic.  I'm trying to wash the inside of those windows. 

Try not to make me look too foolish if there is a simple answer to this.   :lol

Put hand on bottom bar and push up or pull down. The blinds ride on the string.

Yes, but first turn those blinds to the horizontal open position, because closed blinds increase resistance and is harder on the strings.  You don't want to restring them any more often than neccessary.  Use both hands, one favoring each side, and lift with an equal amount of force.  They are intentionally adjusted to be hard to get up so they don't fall down by themself.  Especially the one on the door.  You don't want it coming down inch by inch every time you slam the entry door.  Tight metal blinds also eliminates rattling.

Please don't feel foolish posting these questions.  As we wait for the arrival of our new PC in April, I find these posts most helpful.  I am putting together a file of great tips, ideas and answered questions.  Once we take delivery, I am sure I will be referring back to it often.

Thanks, EVERYONE!  I felt there had to be an easier way than loosening the tension screws, but I just never considered that the lower bar just slides up and down on those strings.  They actually work a lot like the pleated shades in that regard.

My mini blind by the sink fell off while driving i put it back up but now I cannot get it to stay in the up position. Anyone know a fix?
