We are buying a 2017 2910D (30 Amp) in a week or two at PPL Consignment in Cleburne Tx (Fort Worth area). Its factory birth date is November 2016. We are downsizing from a Mandalay diesel pusher. Here is a link if you are interested. I am told current owners live in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. A few more questions if we could:
1. Tow Bar: We have a 16-year-old Ready Brute tow bar system with integrated inertia brake from our DP (still works fine). But it weighs almost 40 lbs and can be hard for us "seniors" to connect to toad. If we have the money would like something much lighter. But would also require a brake system . Suggestions? Note: a new tow bar could require Ready Brute clevis's to fit our Honda CRV base plate.
2. Rock Guard - We have been using a very effective Protect-a-Tow screen system for several years on the DP but it is very worn and headed for the trash heap soon. Any engineers out there who want to comment on how much pebble damage the PC throws..in other words..do we really need a guard for our 2012 Honda CRV?
3. Generator Service? - Previous owner "disclosure" sheet says engine oil was just changed, but nothing done to generator since purchase in Nov 2016. Unit is selling "as-is" but thinking of having them do generator service. My brief online check suggests 1-2 years for service or 250 hours. I do not yet know the unit hours.
4. Protective Cover? We live in a pretty cold and sometimes very windy area and never covered our very high boxy DP. But given size and shape of the PC any suggestions on covering? My 29-foot Class C in Maryland was always covered in winter with a large swimming pool tarp (an engineer friend's low-cost solution).
OCC data
5. OCC label - where is it usually located? The dealer pictures show the VIN etc. stickers but no OCC data.
6. Batteries - I cannot tell from pictures if we have 2 6-volt or 2 12-volt. Just wondering what they should be. I have factory's "build sheet" for this unit but no info on batteries.
7. Extended Warranty - Any suggestions on companies? Not sure we need it for a PC. We always had one on our DP due to potential expenses. Had Good Sam 2007-2015 and then switched to Coachnet which expires this month. Dealer (PPL) is offering "Extra Ride" 3 years for $3,890 ($200 deductible). Current DP warranty from 2015-2019 was about $7400...yikes! But it also included tire/hazard and roadside assistance. Both these companies offer "consequential" coverage which means if a non-covered part damages a covered part you still are covered. Many warranties (including Good Sam when I had it) do not offer that. So an increased cost if you can bear it. DP's are complicated so we needed peace of mind.
