I just purchased a 2006 2551 Phoenix Cruiser.
It has a trailer wiring on the hitch. Do these motorhomes come with a brake controller or do I need to buy one? Do they have a plug connector for brake controller on drivers side?
I have a tow dolly with electric brakes.

There is no brake controller on board. On mine the wiring harness was in place behind the dash for the Ford brake controller. However, since Phoenix lengthens the chassis I've no idea if the wiring harness for that is also extended.
And I suspect an aftermarket controller would be less expensive than the Ford one, though worth pricing out to see.

The Ford chassis is pre-wired direct from Ford to accommodate the 7-pin towing connector. The delivered chassis to Phoenix, that wire harness is terminated just forward or rearward (I forget) of the rear axle and is capped for safe keeping. Phoenix uses a Ford supplied extension wire harness from there to the 7-pin connector by the trailer hitch.
My Unified towing brake kit came with a very long 2-wire wire harness to accommodate the brake controller up front, but I did not use it. I instead utilized the 7-pin connector wiring, avoiding the need for two independent wiring connections between the tow vehicle and PC.
I am not familiar with the requirements of other brake controlling systems for tow vehicles. Maybe you need more wires requiring a second wire harness. But I would think the electric brakes in a tow dolly would also utilize the 7-pin connector.

Thank You Jatrax for your reply. I found the trailer wire harness for the 7 pin plug on the left side by the emergency brake. It was taped with another wire harness with plug facing down under carpet. All done. Thanks again.
