I must be doing something wrong. After emptying the tanks, I still have grey water in the mascerator hose. The pump doesn't seem to do anything since the tanks are empty. So yes, I guess the mascerator pump can pump uphill, but how to get the hose emptied?
And one other thing. After the hose is in the Florida heat for a while, I have trouble getting it squished up enough to get back in the mascerator cabinet. Any hints?

You might run the pump until liquid stops flowing, secure the pump and with your hands elevate the hose from the fartherest upstream as practical. With the cap off the discharge end, hand over hand the hose to drain the small amount of liquid that remains in the hose. Of course keep the discharge end lower than the part you are "wallking" the liquid with. Replace the cap and through trial and error loop the hose over the hooks back and forth until its in the cabinet well enough to secure the cabinet door. Try to place hose back into the cabinet in its normal non-expanded condition and it should fit properly. While on the subject, there is another thread regarding the hose being punctured just where it comes through into the cabinet. Insure you have addressed the fix for that as well.

Agree with Larry. I run the pump until it changes sound indicating all the water is out. Then starting at the pump end elevate the hose and slowly work your way toward the discharge end. I leave the valve open when doing this. It takes about 3 times for me to get all the water out. Slowly is the key, the water is draining by gravity now, not pump pressure. If you go too fast it has not all drained out and you trap water in the pump end side of your loop. Which is why I do it three times.
If you have the time and things are sloped correctly, just leaving it alone for 10 minutes with the gray valve open will let most of the water run out. But generally things are not quite sloped correctly for a gravity drain so elevating the hose is needed to get it all drained out.

I know about the hand over hand method, but if you have a garden hose connected to go a long distance.... that can take a significant amount of time. I was hoping there was an easier way but I guess not. Oh well, thanks for the replies.

Hi Peg,
Nothing is wrong. You are dealing with typical stuff.
Immediately after I turn of the macerator, with my hand I elevate the hose at the macerator and wiggle-jiggle it along the way til I get near the opening of the hose to drain the worst of what remains in the hose. The slinky pockets still hold something, but much less afterward.
As far as storing the hose after dumping, I know what you mean. I just stuff it in as best I can. The next time I have to dump, it is back to it's original short-and-condensed length.
"Everything RV", regardless of RV manufacture, has inconveniences. Don't get frustrated. Try your best to develop "patience" in dealing with all these things, or you will go nuts. At least you own a brand of rig where such inconveniences are reduced.

I agree with all the previous replies and you are doing nothing wrong. Think of it like this...it is the same procedure as emptying all the contents of the 3" "stinky slinky". As far as emptying the "garden hose", follow the same procedure. Any contents remaining should be from gray water. Just connect the two ends and this will prevent any leakage.
