Title: Covers for the extender bed cushions? Where do you keep the cushions?
Post by: gandalf42 on June 29, 2018, 10:00:20 am
What have folks done in regards to the extender bed cushions? I would think they need some kind of removable cover so that they can be washed.

I would think this could be a future option that PC could supply as it would be a common problem.

Also where do you keep them when the bed is not extended? During the day, we have been putting them crossways at the foot of each bed after the bed is made up. (We only have one bed that extends so we only have two extender cushions.) We throw them on the couch for the night.

Lots of cushion movement but haven't come up with any better ideas.   (WH)

Mike,
I don't remember your setup but on our single extending bed we just line the cushions up along the wall when the bed is retracted.  Ours have a cover on them but it is not removable.  Would be easy to have a zippered cover made.  See Ron Dittmer's post in the mattress thread, he just had them make him a new zippered mattress cover for his 2350.

To be honest, I'm not sure why they did not do that in the beginning, just like the mattress cover.

Are you happy with the mattress supplied?  We just spent three weeks on the road and we both found the mattress a bit thin.  My hips were starting to get sore by the time we got home.  I'm investing a replacement mattress but have not made a decision yet.

jatrax,

I have purchased a custom size mattress from the following folks (see URL link). The mattress I purchased was for a RV I'm trying to sell, so I didn't get their top of the line mattress.  I have heard good reviews concerning their Road Premier Mattress.

I wonder if king size pillow cases would fit the extra cushions.  I don't have my PC yet, but I did order one extended bed and planned on lining the cushions along the wall when the bed is not extended and use it as a sofa.

Mike,

Yes, ours has the sew on cover but that will get dirty over time so I know we'll need a slip on cover of some kind.

Mattresses: Ours are interesting as the passenger side is noticeably harder than the driver's side. I have liked the soft driver's side (my chosen side) but it is already beginning to form a body shaped sag in the middle. (no weight comments please! :lol) My wife's bed has retained its shape but she finds it too hard so we have just added a mattress pad to see if that helps enough.

I wondered from day one how two mattresses could be so different from the same company.

We haven't placed the cushions on the back of the bed, couch-like, as we often will stretch out on the bed to read during the day and that makes the bed too narrow.

Mike,
Ours is just right but I think I have a different size.  My mattress is 42" wide what is yours?

Ours is the standard PC twin 34" wide.
