Title: Ford Leveling Jacks vrs HWH Leveling Jacks
Post by: TzrNPeg on May 15, 2018, 08:13:04 pm
What is the difference between these Jacks.  I want fully automatic leveling jacks and it looks like that puts me in the Ford camp.  Is this true?  Are they as good as the HWH jacks?

I'm getting really close to signing on the line and I'd like to avoid as many mistakes as possible.

I might be mistaken on this, but believe Ford utilizes an electric leveling system by Stabi-lite.  Generally regarded as a step-up from manual leveling and a step down from an automated hydraulic system such as is utilized by HWH.

I have the HWH ones and have found them quite good so far.  Not sure exactly what you mean by 'fully automatic'?  The ones I have use a panel with indicator lights to show level.  I deploy the front jacks, then deploy the rear jacks.  Check the level lights which show if further adjustment is needed, usually a bump or so on one of the buttons brings it level.  I guess that is not completely automatic but it is rather simple, and takes literally less than 2 minutes time.

I've read about systems that determine level and find it themselves, is that what you mean?  Not sure I would pay any extra for that based on my experience with the HWH ones.  I usually leave things a bit out of level to help rain run off in the direction I want anyway.

I've had the HWH system with automatic leveling on several Tiffins (I don't believe the Phoenix offering has the auto feature) - but I never had a problem.

I have the fully automatic HWH jacks installed on my 2017 2552. You press a button three times. Once to power up the system, two drops all four jacks, and three levels the coach. When leaving, you hit the "store" button and all four jacks retract and enter the stored position. Can't get any easier. No problems so far. I also had these on my previous 2351. I do keep them clean and spray them with WD-40 after a trip.

To clarify - I have automatic HWH leveling jacks on my current RV.  Hit one button and vehicle is leveled.  When time to leave, hit one button and jacks are stored.  No problems at all.  Guess I need to ask Barry how the Ford jacks work.

There is a $4000 price difference btw the two.  Please share what you find out about the differences.

Ron, that's not what my build sheet says.  The upcharge to go from Semi-Automatic HWH Leveling Jacks to Automatic Leveling Jacks - Ford is $900.  Barry is supposed to call today.  I'll question him more and let you know.

I did get an answer to my question.  The "Ford" indication is some kind of typing error on the build form.  It is actually Automatic HWH levelers.  So I'm happy.  LOL
