Title: Extended Warranties
Post by: JHoecker on March 05, 2018, 04:22:16 pm
Madonna and I are taking delivery on a new 2552 in about a month. I'm curious about owners' thoughts on getting an extended warranty - I believe Phoenix offers a 1 year warranty and Ford 3 years. Anyone have experience with the Protective Xtraride RV Extended Warranty? Good Sam? Other candidates or thoughts? Thanks a lot!  John Hoecker  tymote

We never buy extended warranties because they expire on time, not mileage, and usually cost more than the repairs they cover.

I'm generally opposed to extended warranties.  However, (at the time we picked up) Phoenix offered an extended warranty from United States Warranty.  It is good for 5 years and has a clause that states that if the warranty is not used, at the end of the 5 years United States Warranty will "buy back" the policy for the initial purchase price.

Not being all that familiar with RV's we discussed and then bought it.  I'll let you know in four years if I can get my money back. :)

We bought it and they refused to fix our rear view mirror when it fell off.   Kermit contacted them and discussed it and they paid - however, not the painting !    We decided to get the rest of the money back. We just didn’t know the correct vocabulary to get them to pay.  We just put some money in a special account to cover our needs.
