Title: Mods to our '04 2350 - Front Cabinets
Post by: BillRo on November 02, 2010, 06:45:54 pm
Our PC has maple cabinets, so it is easy to match with lumber from Home Depot. We added a DVD player , which was not installed on earlier models, in the left front unit and boxed it in so that we could store light stuff above it. We added a new cabinet between it and the slide out, utilizing a matching door that Phoenix supplied. It has a shelf in the center and we use it to store durable food stuff.

I cannot emphasize enough how helpful Phoenix are if you need odd parts and replacements for broken stuff. They sold us doors and even provided the bulb seal between the new cabinet and the ceiling. We have purchased a replacement shower sliding door, screen door and ladder.

Picture 1 shows the DVD installation
Pictures 2 and 3 shows the new cabinet. I see the latest models have added a big cabinet here, but I think mine looks more integrated - complicated to make fit nicely though.

I don't know if the modern PC models use the same "Bulldog" catches on the cabinet doors as are shown on the lower picture but we had problems initially with doors popping open. The solution was to add a second latch to each of the troublesome doors; they can then be adjusted closer together or further apart to provide optimum retention.

My 2007 cabinets use this type of latch mechanism.  Though they do their job very well in holding the doors closed, we break a "hook" on rare occasion.  Funny we never know when.  We just notice it later.

My PC has the same as Ron. When I first got the PC, I sprayed them with Heavy duty silicone and it glue them together. I had to pull the screws through the wood to get the doors open. I called Carol at the factory and told her what I had done and she sent me some new latches. I promsied not to spray the new ones.  (exactly)

Bill and Carol,

Nice job on your cabinet.  We have a 2008 2350 and saw that the 09s had that extra cabinet.  We went to the factory and they installed that extra cabinet for us.  Boy, one more cabinet really makes a difference.

I am curious.  What did the factory charge you for that extra cabinet?
