Title: Ordered a new 2552!
Post by: No on October 31, 2017, 09:52:25 am
We ordered a new 2552 for delivery early next year! After looking and climbing through many brands and styles the PC is best choice for us. Plus my brother-in-law's 2551 is still giving him great service after 7 years so it was an easy decision.

Reading through many of the posts on this forum, we added some extras as a result. Thank you! Rear and driver side exterior lights, Maxxair fan to replace the Fantastic, toilet sprayer, 3100 style cabinet wall instead of the Euro chair, fan above the short bed for hot wife (pun intended), and replace the stove side mirror with stainless steel.

No toad, but I do have a Yamaha TW200 to hang on the back. Does that make it a gecko? We want as much agility as possible which is another reason for the PC with its low exterior height.

We tent camped and pop-up camped, and are now looking forward to traveling far and wide in comfort!

First trip will be coming back to FL! Hopefully no snow or ice challenges, I did not opt for the snow plow feature.

Congratulations and welcome!  Now comes the hard part, waiting for delivery.

Make sure you sign up for the Phoenix Cruiser Travel Club, the official Phoenix Cruiser group.  http://phoenixcruisertravelclub.org/  I believe there should be paperwork in your delivery package about the club.  We have a rally every September, this year in Duluth Minnesota.

Congratulations Time Aweigh Steve!  Assuming you are getting a slide out, are you getting the couch and pantry inside the slide out, or are you getting the dinette without a pantry inside the slide out?  If getting a dinette, you might want to consider a 3rd pedestal-mounted matching captain seat instead of replacing the euro-chair with a closet.

We have a dinette and 3rd captain seat in our 2350 (no slide) CLICK HERE TO SEE (https://www.flickr.com/photos/37432012@N08/albums/72157617468317295) and feel it is a great combo.

Hi Ron,

We are getting the dinette because I like a dedicated flat surface that does not have to be stowed. The deletion of the Euro chair was to free up some additional floor space for our 85 pound puppy that will be traveling, plus the extra cabinet space. We do not anticipate any extra passengers. Like a good boat it should drink six, feed four and sleep two.

You have a nice looking coach! Thanks for posting the pics. I hope ours will look as good in ten years.

Steve, How tall are you?  I ask because the dinette inside the 2552's slide out is more confining than ours.  I am 5'-11" tall and our dinette is just a tad bit confining for me.  If our two dinette benches were any closer, it would be a problem for my comfort.  As it is, my knees are in between Irene's legs and visa-versa.  But it still works well for us.  We love our dinette, not intending on putting it down in any manner.  I just don't want you to get surprised.

If the slide out is NOT a must-have for you, the 2552 dinette without a slide out is larger than ours with a bigger table and more leg room.  Dimensions of our dinette is posted HERE (http://forum.phoenixusarv.com/index.php/topic,2842.0.html).  There is another thread with other dinette configurations with dimensions but I can't find it now.

Steve,

How are you going to hang the TW200 on the 2552?  I have a new 2552 ordered as well and would like to hang a Kawasaki Vulcan S but i'm concerned about the handling with the weight on the rear end.

@ Ron
Thanks for the heads-up (legs-out?) on that. We need the floor space the slider will provide and also the dedicated horizontal surface of the table.

@ Tom
The T-dub weighs 287# and the Ultra-Fab carrier weighs 50#, so combined is 337#. The hitch is rated for 500#, as is the carrier so both are well within capacity. Earl suggested getting a trailer shop to install air bags if the ride height was too low in the rear. For me, a small price to pay to avoid dragging a car around.

https://www.etrailer.com/p-UF48-979033.html  This is the only carrier that E-trailer will recommend for a motorhome.

Have had our 2552 over a year doing over 14,000 miles riding around with two different scooters on the back.   Started with a 1999 Honda Helix (weight is 346 lbs)  that I have on the back of 3 different motorhomes since new.   And recently updated to a 2016 Yamaha Smax (weight is 328) as you can see by the photos both scooters fit well on the ramp purchased from Amazon

The Phoenix handles great and ride level no need for air bags, is so much handier than our toad which I recently sold.

Note that the stop and turn lights are blocked so I added a light bar to the back of the scooter carrier to provide turn signal and running lights. As far as wiring  I just bought a cord to plug in the light bar. Here the links for those too.

Congrats! We took delivery of our 2552 in March of this year and currently have 10000 + trouble free miles on it! We also eliminated the barrel chair and went with the 3100 style cabinet and it has worked out great. Proud to be a PC family member...
