Title: Onan issue
Post by: BarbRN on July 28, 2017, 09:36:43 pm
Our hour readout isn't working right now.  Anybody had this happen?  Thoughts?  Just serviced it and want to write down the hours.

I would unscrew the hour meter panel from the wall and check the connections.  Make sure all connections are good & tight.  I've never had ours out so I don't know how the connection is made.  If it's a snap-on but very loose, gently crimp it with a pliers so there is good resistance getting it back on.

Do it with all power off and the chassis battery disconnected because the starter might get it's power from there.  Work with a flashlight if you have to.  When disconnecting the chassis battery, just disconnect the ground, not the power.  Leave the red connection on and undisturbed.  It is so much safer and reliable doing it that way.
