Close to ordering a 2552. The new stove does not have a flush edge like the previous style with the Corian sink. Anyone with the new version wish they had a flush counter top? Or any problems with the old version?

PC will do the stove anyway you want. My wife did not like the recessed stove and didn't want to cover or uncover for a work surface. So PC just surface mounted our stove. It's easier to get big pots or frying pans on.

Our stove is constantly a mess. Stuff constantly falls into it and it's a bear to clean. Funny thing is, I never use it. I use an induction hot plate. So simple and easy. I love it. I can use it outside and make a huge , easy to clean mess.

>8) Never thought of the third option. Your wife must like to cook! I'm looking for the best surface for coffee pots etc. I rarely use the stove in our MH. Thank you for the replies!

We have it recessed and find it fine for our purposes, and we do cook a lot,but as Keelhauler said it limits the size of pots/pans. We also have an induction unit which comes in handy and can be used inside or out. With a recessed stovetop we find the extra counter space (with the covers in place) a big plus many times .

Our 10 year old PC is one of the earliest model years with the recessed stove and stow-away Corian covers. We really like it because we use the covers all the time to make a big counter top for doing dishes as shown. The rack is collapsible and stores with the dish tray in the rear dinette bench via the side door.
Since I have this picture up.......We never use the Corian sink cover. We used to bring it along but it served no practical use and just ended up being a nuisance. I later made a partial cover from a cutting board I bought from Bed Bath & Beyond. It was the biggest cutting board I could find. I cut it so we could run the water with the cover in place. My wife loves it. Being that the sink is square, the cutting board is not only reversible, but also fits in any orientation offering many configurations. My wife will cut meat on one side, veggies on the other, and have running water right where she needs it. The scraps get pushed over the edge and collect in the sink for clean-up later.
Now back to the stove.

The only issue with our stove is that my wife insists on using her large square frying pan which she will on occasion forget to use it exclusively on the larger grate. When using it on the smaller grate, it overhangs the controls and then the heat does damage as shown. Nothing else has ever been affected by the heat. Just the control knobs and decal.

I have recently replaced the knobs and decal as shown. Cost was negligible buying new replacements parts on Ebay. We will see how long the stove stays nice.

We wanted the stove on top not recessed similar to Keelhaulers but never thought to ask PC about changing it so we got the recessed one. So far, in our limited use, I think we are better off with the recessed one as the counter space the lid provides is useful more often than the stove is used. But how much you plan to use the stove would be a factor.

I liked the look of the old stove in terms of being able to make a larger level counter top. At that time someone pointed out the way the old one allowed more food to get down in it. But if you choose the old stove you also have to have the old sink is what i was told - not enough room for the new one. I liked the stainless steel sink for its size and to avoid staining. Went with the new set up.

We've had 3 campers and the new stove is the easiest to use yet.
Easy to clean (except around the knobs), easy to light, and very adjustable.
The only draw back would be if you wanted to use 2 big pans at the same time.
My wife is a gourmet cook and loves it.

Just left PC and ordered our Extended 2552. Trading in our 2351. DW says she dislikes the old sty.e in our 2351 because it's hard to clean down inside and hard to light using a butane lighter or sparker. The new one has a self lighter. It does stick up slightly but is sealed around the edge, has a glass top and the sink cover is cut so you can use the right hand cover for a counter and still have half your sink open.

Thank you for all the replies. Now I'm even more confused. Too many decisions. I'm ready to just keep our class A until it quits! (Don't tell Earl.)

It is interesting how many people have trouble cleaning the recessed stove top. I do the cleanup with our recessed stove and never gave it a thought.
Now watch....you people put that into my head and I will then feel the same as you. roflol
As I said before, we really do appreciate having that extra counter space the flush stove covers provide. Not just for washing dishes, but also a good place to make sandwiches and other work surface convenience. Irene and I would surely miss that. I would have thought that you PCers without a dinette table would miss that even more. Oh well.

Are you competing with JackD, 5 PCs in 8 years? :)
You'll have to share with us, pictures and such, what an extended 2552 looks like. Well wishes with PC #2.

Another ? About this. How difficult is it to keep the Corian sink clean? I thought it was easy to scrub out stains, but I know the one we have in our bathroom the entire sink has discolored some. It's over ten years old.
I know stainless cleans easy but also scratches. :help

I think in general quite easy to keep clean, but it can stain. The bathroom counter in our house has a round 'dull' mark about 4" in diameter on it. I think the previous owner had something on the counter there that marked the corian. Or maybe a candle dish that got too hot. Anyway, it is possible to stain corian, but not easy. I would not be too concerned about stains if you want the corian.

I don't think the sinks inside the Corian counter tops are Corian. I believe they are some kind of plastic. They will stain but add some bleach into a sink full of water gets ours looking like brand new effortlessly.
I add some bleach into water-filled sinks and toilet, let sit a bit to clean them, then drain all into the holding tanks as part of my fall disinfecting/deodorizing for winter storage in our under-the-house garage. Disinfecting the entire waste system prevents sewer gas from forming, then getting into the house.

The white sink does get stains on it but it cleans easily with a pasty mix of baking soda and bleach. I do it periodically. Our stains are mostly coffee. We use small shallow TubTrugs as wash bins when we don't have full hookups (most of the time) so not a lot of water goes into the sink bowl and food bits settle and sometimes leave marks. John is a coffee addict so lots of coffee gets dumped in there but not rinsed out right away. Most stains wash off and the tough ones get the baking soda and bleach treatment. After that it looks like new. I am sensitive to chemicals so our cleaning agents are primarily baking soda, white vinegar and bleach (with windows open to vent bleach fumes). We use little windex wipes on the mirrors and windows, Liquid Gold wipes or lemon oil on the wood and Simple Green on the vinyl floor.
As an added item, I use the same baking soda/bleach method to clean that white plate in the microwave. We bought a round silicone mat that fits it so it isn't often an issue and we NEVER bake directly on it anymore like it recommends in the manual/cookbook. The silicone lifts off for cleaning and the plate stays white.

The new sinks are stainless steel. Also, there is a pull out cutting board under the stove and the flip up counter extention can be had in either wood or matching corian.

This discussion could go on for years!!! Although the new PC is "MY" baby, DW wanted the old style sink because of the rounded edges (crud won't get lodged between sink & counter top) and stainless scratches, and the tight space in the stove. We did have a red wine stain on the old sink, but son-in-law got it out!
-
I'm sure that PC would put in the old style stove top and sink without any fuss. They very good about things like this.

YES - THEY'RE DOING IT FOR US (HER!!)

Try "sanding" the Corian with Bon Ami. It works on our LG brand solid surface counter top for stains and a couple of raised areas caused by hot lids from the oven. They say you can use really find sandpaper but we haven't needed that.
