It replaces the rather useless "coin holder" thing that is in the E-series dash. I think it is the same back to maybe 2009 since Ford has not changed this much if at all. You take out the coin holder and screw in the replacement plate which gives you three separate mounting spaces for standard mounts. This plate is just that, a blank plate with mounting holes so you also need a device mount for whatever you are mounting. They make them for phones, GPS and other things.
I got one for the standard Garmin ball mount: http://www.proclipusa.com/gps-holders/device/garmin/dezl-760lmt/garmin-ball-mount-215165-19342.cmsv?p_leftorright=0 And it works great. Easy enough to take off or just tilt to the side if the copilot wants to work on it.
When we picked up our rig I just handed the plate to Doug and he had it installed in literally 3 minutes. I added the GPS mount and GPS myself later at the campground. We have over 4,000 miles on this getting back home and it worked just perfectly.

Thanks so much for this info. I've had ProClip mounts before, and more than once I've looked at that coin cubby and wondered how I could put that spot to better use. I've been using a dash suction cup mount for my Garmin, and am looking forward to getting the ProClip mount for it instead. Ordered it today, and found a 10% off code online "10off". tymote

Great idea. I am going to get one. My Rear camera is on my rear mirror and is to small. I want to buy new dash mounted camera and this might be a good place to mount it.
