This pole will NOT expire.
Please participate only if your ultra-leather seating and trim surfaces are cracking or flaking away for any reason. If your leather-like surfaces are fine or wearing naturally, please do NOT participate.
As PC owners with the problem respond, we all will get a good idea as to when the problem occurred, and if the problem has been resolved by Paul's Seating, the supplier of seats to Phoenix.

ADDING: June 2021
It appears the break-down of the vinyl surface material is the byproduct of importing bolts of material from China which occurred since the recession of 2008/2009. This is not limited to Phoenix Cruisers. This is happening across the entire RV industry. Phoenix addressed the worst of it by upgrading the human-contact surfaces on seats from vinyl to real leather called top grain leather.

We bought our 2011 PC used last August. It had some small areas of peeling on the sofa. In the short time we have used it, the sofa began shedding vinyl like crazy. The front driver seats are beginning to go also. It looks awful. I assumed since we are not the original owner, there was little recourse in asking Phoenix to replace. Now I see that this is a common problem for this year's model, I wonder.
We use no hair sprays, vinyl cleaner or any thing like that, so I was dismayed to read that the problem was assigned to hair spray, hair oil and the like.
Everything else about our 3100 is like new.
I wonder how this will unfold (no pun intended)

Given that I am the person who started this poll, I wonder if everyone else has the button called "View Results" to see how the poll is progressing.
Do you all have that button to see the progress?
-
Yep (nod)
-
Thanks CKK
-
Yes as well. (nod)

Odd. . .we don't have a button to see results. The progress is shown when I enter the Polls Thread. :)(:

Could it be you aren't logging in until you are ready to post something? When I was viewing this thread as a guest (not logged in) I immediately saw the results. However, if I visit this thread when logged in, it gives me the option to vote or click a link "view results."

We stay logged in 24-7. :)(:
Edit: We can also add the "ultra leather" wall accent coverings in the front of the living space to the flaking issue. pyho

Sorry, I meant Paul's
Rons upholstry has never responded to emails nor phone calls. Totally disappointing the company

Considering three 3100s, 2010, 2012 & 2013. All three had peeling driver seats. One also had peeling passenger seat. One of three had driver, passenger, dinette and sofa "leather" replaced. Other two didn't replace anything. Replacement by Paul's $325 leather, $175 fabric.
Seems the most used seat goes first then the others over time. The 3100 in only PC model that meets our needs. Not sure if I will still consider a PC. The asking prices are such that I would expect better quality, especially after 4-5 years of use.
I am interested to see if PC changes fabrics or supplier for 2018. Being 0/3 is like striking out.
Very disappointed

There is a 2010 2910D on ebay with both front pleather seats looks quite sad.
-
All our seating has been replaced in our 2010. We had custom recliners put in but not because of fabric failure.
-
I have a 2012 2910...My front seats/sofa and european chair are all shedding.....every time I touch them it looks like dandruff falling! What the hell is going on?

There is speculation that during the end of the Great Recession, the manufacture/supplier of PC seats (Paul's Seating) switched vinyl material suppliers from USA to China which turned out to be an inferior product.
Our 2007 vinyl seats are fine, as is other PC seats made before the Great Recession.
I understand vinyl seats are no longer available. When upgrading from cloth, direct human contact (seating) surfaces are now 100% leather. All other surfaces remain vinyl.
It must to painful to all of you who have the self-destructing vinyl seats. I feel for you.

I'm a bit late entering into this discussion about the flaking substandard upholstery material, but it is very relevant to us. We just purchased (10/2020) a 2011 3100. The upholstery was BEGINNING to looked a little over used (the rest of the coach is perfect) when we bought it. The sellers, gave us a $2000 concession to cover the upholstery. We spent 12 days on the return trip home. We are NOT tough on furniture, but it is amazing to see how much this stuff fell apart!! We thought when we bought the coach that we could take our time getting the reupholstery taken care of, but NOW, it is such an eyesore, this must be addressed immediately. The dinette, and both front cab seats as well as some of the wall coverings are looking very poorly. Sad that PC hasn't stepped up to fix this issue. I called the factory and was told that there are no "pre-made" replacements to the dinettes (heck, they're just stapled to the plywood bases) and they estimated that the repairs would cost us $2000.

Ok, We have a 2012 2910 and we finally had it!Called Pheonix about the problem......went nowhere. Finally, we removed and put the sofa and two chairs out for the garbageman! We found a company Shop4seats.com and ordered a couch and 2 recliners...costly? yes but, they look like they were made for a Rolls Royce.......Update...We ordered new front seats 6 yes 6 months ago thats the waiting period because of the virus we should get them July 2nd. If you are looking for comfort and handmade QUALITY look no further... also, they make a couch/recliner(power) that FITS in the couch area

Two questions...
Why is this poll limited to seating only? I have a 2010 with ultra leather trim on sides and lower edges of the upper cabinets around the front half of the coach that is falling apart. It's the same material as the seating,,, but the seats look fine. So why limit the poll to seating?
And,
How do I vote? I don't see any place for participating in the poll.

Our 2013 2552 just started showing this problem. So far it is just the Eurochair. It is crackling on the arms and where your head touches the back. We've been in it full time for five years and lots of time the other three. Hopefully it is just the chair but time will tell.

I just accommodated "all surfaces" in my opening statement.
How do I vote? I don't see any place for participating in the poll.
Make sure you are logged in.
-
Thanks Ron, cuz I do have ultra leather problems, but not in the seats for some reason.
As for voting... Yes I am logged in. I even logged out and back in again. Still no place to vote. Here's a screen shot of what I see. Am I missing something?

Hi LRUCH,
You are showing the results, seen when clicking on the "VIEW RESULTS" button at the end of the original post.
Try clearing your computer's cookies. I could figure out how to do it manually, but I use CCleaner to do it for me all the time on my Windows 8.1 computer.....had used it at work (now retired) going back to Windows-XP. If you are like me, install the free version of CCleaner by clicking here.
https://www.ccleaner.com/ (https://www.ccleaner.com/)
I use the free version of CCleaner all the time and swear by it. The only thing you want to avoid is allowing CCleaner to install their free "protection" software. If you accidentally allow it, no worries, just uninstall it.

The poll is at the top of the post. If your log in account has already voted you will see the results and are unable to vote again.

Just saw this. My 2008 seats are peeling. Every RV I have owned with this material has peeled.
-
One of the Dinette backs is peeling at the side. The drivers seat has several areas that have also peeled. Very disappointed, would of thought with what these units cost a better material would have been used. We replaced the couch with a very comfortable double power recliner. Very happy with that.
-
We bought a 2011, 3100. The drivers & passenger seats, the couch/recliners and the dinette all have failing seat coverings. Costing almost $5,000 to get them all recovered, and that is with me removing all from the coach and bringing in to the shop. What a pain.
-
We bought our 2013 PC in 2015. The seating upholstery began disintegrating in 2017. Reupholstered the cab seats in 2018, and the couch in 2022. PC told me it was inferior product and they quit using it some time ago.

2012 2552. Original owner. Just started flaking this year...
