I would appreciate feedback from anyone who has actually replaced the normal toilet with a composting toilet. I have searched the site and found very little info. Have also looked on web and find opinions rank from positive reviews to never again.

We have a remote cabin in Canada with an outhouse. Bought a composting toilet several years ago for inside hoping to run it on solar panels. Not enough power. You need constant 120 volts for the heater plates and blower motor. Mine sits in the cellar and will sell cheap.

thanks for the feedback. I have been considering the Nature's Head or Air Head. Have seen these installed on several boats. They use only a 12V muffin fan. Some boaters use a solar-powered deck fan. Just in the consideration stage. The Wynns appear to love theirs while others have mixed reviews.

I am reviving this just in case there is any more info to be had, as I too am seriously considering a composting toilet... but wonder why more don't use them to conserve water, etc?? Anyone know a reason NOT to do it or know of problems or friends who regretted the change, etc?? Thanks.

You can find lots of other videos about composting toilets on you tube.

Could be some regulatory issues depending on what state live in. Here in Washington state it gets
down to local communities. Attached an article on using them in RV's and a list of states regulations.

Thanks for info... it's one of those things that sounds good but who knows... will continue to look for some personal stories either pro or con.

Sell, you can color me out of the loop, but after 20 years of RVing I can only ask, "why"? :)(:
