Title: Florida Keys
Post by: Janey on December 04, 2016, 02:10:41 am
Leaving for the Florida Keys! ;) heartshower.    Need a suggestion for a private campground. Ocean or Gulfside preferred. (Yes - ready to pay big bucks!  Anyone have a friend with a big yard?)

Here's a couple of places to start looking. Good luck and enjoy the warm weather.

Janey,

If you don't find anything in the Keys try Fort Myers Beach--the Red Coconut.  On the beach side you are on sand, 1st row is beachfront and fourth row you back up to the road (some road noise).  Sites 15, 16, 17 and 18 are not beachfront but have gulf views. Very tight camping but a total beach experience.  You can walk the 1.2 miles into town or take the trolley.  Many places to eat and beautiful sunsets over the gulf.  Just a short drive to Sanibel and Captiva islands.

Janey,

We don't have friends with a big yard in the Key's but we do have friends that spend a month and sometimes two at Sunshine Key in Big Pine Key.

I think it is an Encore Park.   They offer a special rate at the Tampa RV Show for the months of October and November.  I think our friends have purchased this special for the past 4 years.  They plan on going again in 2017.

We have not been to this park but they love it.
