Title: heat in the cab from engine
Post by: mciai2000 on September 26, 2010, 09:41:35 pm
Hi Y'all:

Had the mh out this weekend to the Penn State Game.  My wife always notices that the engine generates lots of heat on her side.  I too notice it on my side, but not near a much. I suspect the manifold and exhaust pipe pass under the passenger side of the mh. Has anyone else noticed this and if so, any cures or solutions.?   My boys do not complain when they ride up front with me but I suspect youth has an issue here? lol.

We've noticed the same thing and simply placed a folded bath towel on the passenger side floor, which made a big difference.
A more permanent fix would be to lift the carpet and insert some under-hood insulation before securing the carpet again.
Following that, install a heat shield between the exhaust pipe and floor.

Every Ford-V10 E350 and E450 owner, regardless of year or who made the motor home, all have the same observations.  We all have a hot floor, much more hot on the passenger side.  Home-made remedies vary, but most people simply tollerate it.  My wife usually feels cold, so she actually appreciates the hot floor.
