Title: New desk
Post by: Denny & Barb on August 27, 2016, 07:02:21 pm
Needed a new larger desk.  Since I'm a woodworker, I was able to design and build a size for my application. You can too if a pattern is given to you maybe friendly woodworker down the street?  Just used 2  large angle L brackets screwed onto 2 inch angle bracket that is fastened to the two wall ends. I even faboracated a Small drawer underneath for pencils and stuff.  Done all in Maple, as that is our PC design.

Denny,
What a great idea to mount a table top there.  I've been using a small folding TV table there, but it's always too crowded.
I'd need a more detailed description on how to attach one to the wall (two wall ends?).  I'm afraid to screw anything into the exterior wall.

Bruce...  Wherever there is a corner, there will be some wood brace to screw into... You can test the waters with a 1/16" drill just to be sure.  So I have a screw in each end of the angled brace/mounting bracket. The "L" bracket is then screwed to the angle bracket, the table bottom only... Bottom of "L" bracket just rest against the wall for support.

Waterdog, I'm a amateur radio operator, so that is just my radio transceiver and it's modem.
Title: Amateur Radio question

We drove our new to us 2012 Phoenix Cruiser hame and missed not having the two meter radio installed for the initial trip home. Any hints or tips?  How did you handle the antenna for your rig? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Marilyn, as you can see from picture, that is my HF radio mount behind the passenger seat. Not the best place for a rig to be mounted as cannot be used while mobile. I do have a 2mtr Kenwood TM-D700 mounted under the dash just left of the doghouse. Not the best place as kind of a knee catcher at times. If you have a rig such as this with the remote head, it can be mounted in a better place, such as under the seat, with the remote head mounted on the doghouse drink tray.

Antenna options I used was the mirrors.  One for screwdriver type HF antenna, and the other for a 5/8~ 2mtr/440 mount. I did run a #10 wire from the antenna mount to the cab door frame for a better ground connection.

Hope this helps.
