Title: New recliners in place of sofa/bed
Post by: BarbRN on July 01, 2016, 09:41:38 pm
While in Amish country we had these recliners made to replace the couch.  We opted for the side trays we eat on or use the computer on.  We are very happy we changed.  So comfortable.  They lie back far too.

Those side tables are a great idea!  What is the name of the company you used?

That is super. The phony leather on our couch, the Euro chair and the driver's seat is  deteriorating--it is separating from the backing and coming off in big strips. We have talked with Kermit about the problem and he will send us replacement covers when we get back to Florida in Sept.

I love what you did! Who fabricated them for you and if you don't mind, the approximate cost. It is possible that we will change our our sofa. Thanks.

What a nice feature you have there Barb  2o2  That is the best I have seen so far in eating on the couch with minimal fuss.  Do you have pictures of the tables up and the recliners fully reclined?  Do they recline so far back to become a bed like the original ones?

Ron thanks. I'll photo it for you later. They lay back far enough to sleep but not flat.

Ah yes.  We got our pair of petite-width Craftsman mission style wall hugger recliners from Weavers out there.  They were great people to work with, but it did come at a price and there were a few issues that had us returning for.  One was over "cushion density".  The floor model chair cushion was nice & comfortable, the ones delivered were like stone.  We also had an issue with mismatched stain of the chairs to the end table.  This next one was our own doing.  We paid good money more for full-grain leather but regret it because the fabric in the store was much more comfortable, a decision we have only ourselves to blame.  But they really do look great and do work well, just not all as comfy as hoped.  We live with that one.  I will always complain on the fortune we spent on those two chairs.

Those two chairs from Weavers were but a small portion of the over-all investment.  We also bought from a local Amish store, a 6-to-20 foot mission-style table, a 2 piece hutch, and twelve dining room chairs, also made in Shipshewana.  The over-all investment could use an insurance policy.  I can't complain too much since it replaced the furniture we bought from Homemakers in 1979.  It was about time to go Amish, a dream we had since 1978.  Our Christmas dinners today sits all the family at the same table.  We have to use all stack chairs to fit everyone, but we get there.  The twelve Amish chairs get used daily and for smaller dinner parties.

BTW:  The pot roast served in the buffet at the Blue Gate there is the best ever.  How do they do that?

I just bought a new recliner from Lambright in Elkhart to go in the slide of my 2350.  It is the smallest one anyone has and it fits great.  Much better than the recliner that came with it.

Excellent people. They donated the sofa for us. The space behind the sofa needed some remodeling.
Can you show us a photo?

We drove there made an appointment for next day. The installation was not easy. Glad we did.

We made an appointment for the following morning after getting our order placed and there was a lot of menstruation involved because there was a box behind the sofa that had to be removed. I would not want To attempt this job on my own. We did not use weavers we used Lambright's
