I just completed the American Safety Council Safe Motorist Course. It is an online course that costs $14.95. It must be taken once every 3 years and it qualifies me for a discount on my RV insurance as well as my auto insurance.
The National Safety Council also has a course. I took the National Safety Council course 3 years ago but this time I took the American Safety Council course because the fee was cheaper.
I don't know if all insurance companies will issue a discount, but Geico and Hartford do.

National General Insurance (through Good Sam) offers 5% discount for "older driver safety program" completion as well, last I checked.

AARP also sponsors a course that costs about $15 that my wife and I have taken recently that also is good for 3 years and is good for a discount at least with State Farm and Safeco.

Good to know, I never gave it a thought. Due to my job I have attended professional driving courses for years. Tactical, defensive and offensive both U.S. and Abroad. I never thought of it possibly getting me a discount.
