After 17 years of full time rving we downsized to our new 2552. We were a little concerned about the gross reduction in size from a 40 foot Allegro bus. We shouldn't have worried. We are very comfortable in our cruiser. Our trip started in Naples, Fl and continued north to Knoxville Tn, Shipshewana In, South Haven Mi, Manistee Mi, Traverse City Mi and south to Ludington Mi, NW Kentucky and the bourbon tour, Nashville Tn for the annual Phoenix gathering, back to Knoxville and on south to Tallahassee Fl, Cedar Key Fl, Lazy days CG, and back to Naples,Fl, our home base.
4000 + miles at 8.8 mpg incl generator, overall. Not bad for a new engine. We trow a honda cr-v.
The rig ran wonderfully with only a couple problems. We were near the factory at that time and the troubles were taken care of by Bob in short order. What a great change compared tp weeks in Red Bay at the Tiffin service center.
We found that the floor plan worked great for us and showed the forethought of the planning at Phoenix. Good storage, ease of use all added up to near perfection for us. We had read somewhere that Ford had made some improvements in the front end of the 2015 E450 and we were surprised at how well the rig steered going down the road. We later found out that they beefed up the shocks and added a steering control bar to the rig. It drove just fine, no wandering and funny stuff.
We have been most of the places we went before except for Cedar Key, Fl. What a great place! Small funky cg, break bike riding, eating and shopping. This little spot is like 1940. you can walk, ride bikes, or drive anywhere and see history of the place.
This unit is a pleasure to drive and just cruise around in. The size lets us go just about anywhere we want. We're back home now and are planning the trip for next summer, maybe out west, although I have promised myself that I won't drive across the great flat again. I don't know how many times we've made the drive. We used to live in California and drive to Florida to visit Betty's family and now we live and travel to California to visit our kids and grandkids. Can't seem to get it together.
I'll be glad to answer any questions you might have about the rig or the trip.
