Title: Keeping those flying pest out

We have noticed many wasp this winter flying into the furnace vents on many of the RVs at the campground.  We purchased the CAMCO flying insect screen (FUR300) http://www.amazon.com/Camco-42142-Flying-Insect-Screen/dp/B00192JFD6/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1392069212&sr=8-8&keywords=camco+flying+insect+screen and it fit perfectly on our rig.  We have the Hydro Flame 8500 Series furnace.

It was super easy to install (remove the four screws of the vent cover, insert screen, and then replace the four screws).  It is made of heavy duty stainless steel so it shouldn't rust and it doesn't restrict the air flow.  It also looks very nice.

As we were setting up camp today a pesky little wasp was at our screen door and couldn't get in so headed over to the furnace vent.  Sniffed around but flew off because he couldn't gain any access.

Even wasp like PCs. Don't you feel bad about not letting him in to look around? roflol

I'm adding that screen to our shopping list. Better to keep them out than have to remove an active wasp nest.

Tom, that wasp did not need a tour. The Phoenix is super easy to drive for a human but not THAT easy. His little feet would never reach the gas pedal.

What about the water heater and refrigerator vents?  Did you cover them too?

No, we only saw a need to cover the furnace vent.  Watched them fly around the water heater but could not find their way in.  They seemed to be headed to the larger openings.

I use some old pieces of window screen when I store the Beast..... just slap them over the vents they are over sized . push in the covers... of course only use them when in storage.. take them off when traveling...

We put the screen you can buy at Camping World on the fridge, water heater and furnace.  They are cheap and very easy to install.  But I have seen others use the same type of window screen material that you described, Sparky, taped in place with duct tape from the inside so you can't see it.  Looks just fine and does the job.
