Title: AWNINGS
Post by: frecklestweety on June 16, 2013, 07:38:06 pm
Just came back from a Good Sam Rally in Syracuse, NY and saw the 2013  2551 Phoenix Cruiser with a different type of awning than the one is presently on my 2551, 2010. Has anyone ever changed over to this new type.  It looks alot sturdier.  Phoenix displayed three units at the show and I got to speak to the new salesperson.  It was a great show dispite the horrible rain on thursday the 13th.  We got lucky and got a good spot in the fairgrounds.  the remaining days f,S,S went better with sunshine.

So be interested in knowing about awnings.

They switched to a large electric awning in the 2012 models I believe.
We love it, very large, sturdy and the best part is that it automatically dumps the water off. Just don't be walking by when it happens.

Oh...we had a Flamer on our Coach House.......if you do not have yhose two widgetie thingys mounted on the side of PC to hold the awning in place while extended,....well.... you need them.  I majorly disliked that awning when using the legs not mounted into the brackets.  I wasn't really thrilled when I did use them.  Just have PC put new style on your PC.  That rain dump really works & really freaks Linda when the damn lets go roflol roflol :-D (I only jump a wee bit)(&then wipe up the floor)

That little bracket is such that I don't thike a substitute would work well

I agree with you.

Those brackets are critical in locking the poles in-place for when wind gets under the awning and lifts it.  They also work great for ease of setup and release.

The factory might have those box awning, lower pole brackets in stock.  I would call PC-USA.

We called a couple days ago, parts lady is supposed to call back but we're still waiting.  She said they have new ones now not sure what the difference is.  Hopefully she can find some old ones.
