Title: Fireproof safe
Post by: NHWanderlust on December 20, 2012, 02:57:54 pm
Has anyone installed a fireproof safe in your PC? Something small that could be hidden and used to store valuables like cash and passports. If so where and what did you use?

Some motor homes came with a small floor safe.  My brother's Starflyte came with one mounted in an area behind the driver seat.  I don't know much about them or where to buy one, but maybe RV suppliers like Camping World and the kind have them for sale.

It would be nice to have a hidden-under-carpet floor safe that is fire & thief proof.

I used one of these bolted down in two different MH's, under the beds. Not thief proof but might slow someone down - they were never tested.

I have seen them as low as $20 on sale.

I use a fireproof safe for my gun.  It has five buttons that you code a sequence of selecting them to unlock the safe.  I then secured it under the drivers side bed with large screws from inside the safe.  I guess it could be torn out, but it would require quite an effort.  You could secure valuables as well in the safe.  You can find these at gun shops and Cabelas and probably other retail outlets.

Good Idea... thanks.... (don't think I would hide my side arm in there as I want it more accessable), but for Passports... yes...  Walmart has some neat fireproof safes that are under $20...
