I need to keep good control of the temperature of the refrigerator since I need medication refrigerated and it must not freeze. I found a "taylor" indoor/outdoor" wireless temperature gauge similar to the one shown here on amazon http://www.amazon.com/Ambient-Weather-WS-04-Thermometer-Temperature/dp/B006FKTT4C/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1353778748&sr=8-2-fkmr0&keywords=%22taylor+wireless+temperature%22
I have been using it now for a couple of years. I found it on clearance for only $5.00 so if it didn't work it wasn't going to be too much of a loss. I put the outdoor gauge on a shelf in the frig and I am able to see the temp without having to open the door. It works really nice.

We did the same thing but I got one that allows for two outside sensors and the time. One sensor goes in the outside cabinet by the door and the other in the refer. That way i can make sure my beer is cold and it is not to hot to take it outside. :)(:

I have this thermometer: http://www.amazon.com/AcuRite-00888A2-Outdoor-Digital-Thermometer/dp/B000PAQ32O/ref=pd_sim_hg_1. Takes a single AA battery, no wireless sensor with another set of batteries to worry about. Mounted it above the fridge with Velcro, ran the probe down into the freezer. Works great. I also have a wireless thermometer for the outside temperature.
