This is a repeat, but it seems that there have been more/new Sprinter owners in the forum lately, so here goes:
SPRINTER OIL CHANGES: Be sure that the new oil added is just the right amount. The high and low oil sensors
are very sensitive on the Mercedes Sprinter engine. When the heated oil expands, it triggers the sensor
and the high/low oil light on the dash comes on! Yikes. It took many phone calls to find a dealer/service guy
who knew this and what was happening. It was alarming to see the light coming on again and again after a recent oil change.
Apparently the Sprinter is very sensitive , so the oil level should be tested with the oil warm---or don’t add the full amount listed in the manual---maybe a quarter, half cup, or 1 cup less? It is easier to add oil than remove it, I think.
Maybe this will be helpful to some folks and avert some alarm or panic on trips. :)

We had the very same thing happen after an oil change on our 2350 Sprinter. On our way to Key West! Thank goodness that we were not far from home.
Thanks for the reminder to all those folks that own a Sprinter. Believe me, it is not fun to be on your way and have that light come on.

Jack....please make sure they use ONLY oil with the ESP designation like Mobil 1 ESP. I have been told some try to use regular Mobil 1 and using such will void the warranty . Thanks

Thanks Bob - yes, in fact I have the Delvac Mobile with the MSB spec with me if I need it, but haven't so far.
All the best,
