Title: Trip MPG - cost of A/C
Post by: dickreid1 on August 19, 2012, 10:53:30 am
Summary of our summer trip:

Average for 9700 miles is 9.4 MPG with a standard deviation of 0.5 MPG. (2 out of 3 fills the mpg is in the range of 8.9 -9.9 MPG).

Logging MPG at a constant speed and wind pressure:
- When the A/C  cycles on and off , there is a change of about 1MPG at 55 MPH.
- The MPG drop due to A/C is greater at slower speeds presumably due to a relatively constant compressor load versus the lower engine power.
