Title: Replacing cutting board with a drawer????
Post by: Margie on August 14, 2012, 01:10:37 am
Hi all.  It has been ages since I have been on the Forum and I am completely braindead as far as using it.  I recall that someone once upon a time mentioned replacing the cutting board with a drawer or pull out shelf.  I'm thinking that it was Judi but I can't for the life of me find that post.  We would like to replace the board in our 2350 with something as we aren't using the board.  Thanks for your help.

Margie,

It was Judi:

Our new PC hasn't been "born" yet but this is one trick that we plan to implement ASAP when she comes home -- maybe they will start making this an option at the factory, as so many PC'ers seem to like the idea of dc-ing the board and using this.

Marilyn,

Did you give any more thought to, and discuss the drawers under the stove with the factory?  I always felt they would be better served as open drawers, not drawers behind a cabinet door.  Maybe better yet to have them as wider drawers, combined with the ones to the left.

Marilyn and Margie

Here is another option, we replaced both drawers with a pullout pantry from Home Depot in our 2008 2350 and then moved it to our 2012 2551.  It provides more storage with easier access.

Just for info.  The cutting board fits perfectly in the sink, so if you need it to cut juicy items, the juice just goes in the sink.

Our cutting board does not fit in the sink of our 2910. Tried it--won't work. Maybe they changed the size of the sink.

I love the wire basket/drawer that we use and I also like Barry and Sue's idea for the pantry.

Ron, we didn't discuss it when we were at the factory - just ordered it as it is.  We probably won't have a better handle on things (drawers&doors or drawers-no doors) until we take possession and actually live in it for a while.  We've been the victim over the years of several Chicken Little type problems in other mfg vans (like the microwave picture-frame surround falling off and lassoing one of our dogs around the neck (%), the "Magic Drawer" which would always pop open and bang above the dogs' heads, a refrigerator door which would fly open, etc.) -- so we would probably err on the side of safety or double doors/drawers for things that might fly out as we travel down the road.

And, Barry & Sue, I really like your HD pantry -- again, time will tell if we have most use for drawers or this nice pantry set up.  I'm anxious to find out, but we have to wait for the factory guys to lovingly put her together....  In the meantime I have all these pictures to help make the time go faster...   3:)

Thank you all for your information.  Ron, after seeing your post, we went to BB&B and got the basket and got it installed yesterday.  It will make a huge difference.

Interesting about the pullout pantry idea also.

You are ahead of me there.  I bought my BB&B basket a month or more ago but haven't yet installed it.  But there is no hurry either.  Sadly our rig will stay in the garage for 2012.  Too many set-backs in many areas of life has our vacations and get-away weekends all messed up.  It is one of those years.  >:(
