Have any of you experienced sway problems towing a car behind a 2551 with a tow dolly.

I too would like to know if anyone has experience using a tow dolly behind any PC model. I've been trying to decide whether to use a dolly or the four wheel down method. Since neither of our current vehicles are capable of being towed by either method, we would have to invest in a third vehicle anyway. With the tow dolly any front wheel drive car should work, but if I go the four wheel down method, I'd be limited to those approved by the manufacturer for 4-wheel towing.

There is a company the provides aftermarket equipment that would allow a vehicle to be towed 4 down. I have used the information provided by Remco Towing several times. Also, their customer service is very knowledgeable, assessable and helpful. Here is a link to their website that provides information on what needs to be done to make a vehicle towable 4 down. This should be much cheaper than a new car.

I have towed several different vehiclles 4 down on several motorhomes, all without problems. However, you may encounter a lot of limitations on max speed, need to stop and run through gears every so many miles, need to pull fuses to keep miles from recording on odometer, etc. On the other hand, I've heard people complain about where to stash the dolly when you're parked for a few days, dragging it around to hook it up, and, of course, it costs about $1,200 or so to buy. I'm limited to 65mph in my Chevy HHR and am willing to live with that rather than buy and fool with a dolly.

Don't forget that the weight of the dolly counts as part of how much you can tow.

The only two with no towing problems are the Chevy Colorado and gmc canyon. Small trucks, I'm sure the are others?

We have a 2009 Honda Fit which we love. The owner's manual that came with it said it could be towed 4-down no more than 35 MPH for no more than 3 hours. Useless.
Then we went to a PC club event and saw several Fits being towed 4-down. After finding the later version of the 2009 owner's manual, which says 4-down towing at up to 55 MPH is just fine (given that you do an arcane ritual with the transmission every 8 hours or so) we're going to tow the Fit just everywhere!
I highly recommend the Phoenix-Intervec club. Really nice people!
